Hike with Wild South and experience the splendor of autumn in the Bankhead National Forest

 

Saturday, October 26
9:00 a.m. at the Wild South office 552 Lawrence Street, Moulton, Alabama
Sign up at janice@wildsouth.org or 256-974-6166. Advance sign-up is required in order to limit group size.  Please include a phone number when signing up.

 

Destination:  Unknown.  To be decided and announced closer to the hike date according to trail conditions, water levels, leaf color, etc.
Leader:  Wild South volunteer Sam Calhoun
Distance:  Approx. 4 miles round-trip
Level or Challenge:  Moderately challenging

 

This hike will be a creekside exploration of sandstone canyons and cove hardwood and hemlock forest.  The terrain will be rocky, rooty and there may be creek crossings and some brief stretches of elevation change.
Footwear that is sturdy with reliable tread for slippery surfaces and rocks covered by fallen leaves is recommended.
Bring a daypack with lunch, snacks, drinking water.
Watch the forecast and dress appropriately for the weather.
No smoking or dogs on this hike, please.
