Get ready for a fun-filled weekend in Downtown Decatur as we kick off the holiday season! Thursday evening Santa will be strolling the streets from 5-8 p.m., and the annual tree lighting celebration will take place at the Old State Bank at 6 p.m. This is always a great kickoff to a weekend of fun local shopping! Decatur Youth Symphony will have an ensemble there, and Ross Malone, a 99-year-old WW2 vet will be lighting the tree.

We’re bringing back Food Truck Friday for the second week in a row during lunch at the Old State Bank, stores will offer extended shopping until 7 p.m., horse-drawn carriage rides on Bank Street, and Humbug cast members will take to the streets from 5-7 p.m. Luminaries will line the sidewalks, which combined with carriage rides, is a pretty perfect date night idea… 

Saturday will also feature extended shopping hours until 3 p.m. Miss Muldrew’s (2nd Ave) and The Cupboard (Bank St) will both be serving Hot Cider, and Tennessee Valley Pecan Company (Bank Street) will be handing out free coffee as part of our Sip & Shop activities! Downtown artists & weavers will take to the streets to showcase their talents from 11-1 p.m., weather permitting.

New Eden Church is sponsoring a DJ on Bank Street from 11-2 p.m., and Merit House Realty is sponsoring a DJ on 2nd Ave. Shop LOCAL. Shop DECATUR. Shop DOWNTOWN this holiday season, and get it all started with this fun-filled family weekend, Dashing Through Downtown.
